Full Job Description

Being a member of the Underwriting team, the Team Leader provides day-to-day supervision to staff within a defined section of a broader department and serves as the technical subject-matter-expert for the section. In the supervisory/leadership role, the Team Leader is accountable for ensuring that operational procedures are followed, that customer service and productivity standards are met, and that fundamental business and interpersonal skills are fostered among the staff. In this role, the incumbent is also responsible for all administrative activities for the section, and for audit, risk-management, regulatory, and compliance related duties at the appropriate level.

In the technical subject matter expert role, the Team Leader participates in short and long-term projects related to product/service and system development and enhancement, serves as the go to person on the most complex operational problems, develops training materials for staff, and works with management and to design and monitor business reports.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervises day-to-day activities of a designated team. Ensures strict adherence to procedures and critical timeframes; Ability to manage competing priorities; Directly manages people.

  • Performs all aspects of performance management, oversees the execution of cross training efforts and on-the-job training of staff. Engage staff to ensure performance both meet/exceed clients' expectations and the departmental benchmarks.

  • Identifies and mitigates risk by having knowledge of department controls with the ability to spot key opportunities and identify root cause issues.

  • Maintains a steadfast focus on meeting the needs/requests of our internal and external clients, including responding to inquiries timely and accurately, resolving issues promptly. Resolves exceptions, assists with complex inquiries.

  • Understands and apply principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized business functions. Writes, maintains procedures job aids, and identifies procedure gaps, updates procedures to fill gaps as directed.

    Bachelor's degree preferred but not essential
