  • In Royal Greenwich, as a GOOD authority (Ofsted December 2019) with areas of fantastic practice for children and young people with SEND, we are passionate about keeping children and young people at the heart of what we do. Our Local Area SEND Inspection (May 2023) found Children and young people with SEND and their families in Greenwich are front and centre of the local area partnership's work. Everyone has the best interests of the children and young people at heart. The culture here is one of working together to secure the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

The Disabled Children and Young People Service is an exciting, newly extended service supporting children and young people with SEND up to the age of 25. In this team you will engage in a range of statutory work across Child in Need, Child Protection and Children in our Care with severely disabled children and their families. We are developing exciting new pathways of supporting young people with SEND up to the age of 25 as they move into adulthood and the post holder will have the opportunity to contribute to this service development. This is a great opportunity for a social worker to expand their knowledge base across both children's and adult's practice in this developing service. As an integrated service, team members will also work closely with our Children's Occupational Therapy service and our Short Break Team.

We are looking for a social worker with experience in statutory social care settings either in Children's or Adult's services and a passion for inclusion and supporting disabled children, young people and their families to achieve their outcomes.

You will be joining an ambitious, high achieving service that has excellent relationships and partnerships established with families, community resources and a newly expanded Short Breaks Offer. Children and young people are truly at the heart of our decision making., Interim Working Arrangements: As we review our ways of working, there may be interim working arrangements in place for some of our roles and some roles may still require full or partial essential office attendance.
