Full Job Description

A new position for a Systems Analyst has become available within the finance service, reporting to the Systems & Data Insights Manager. This role provides vital support to the Systems & Data Insights Manager and the systems improvement journey that Plantforce is undertaking. This role will support with driving business performance through providing data led business intelligence to the management team, enabling data informed business decisions.

The primary responsibilities include, supporting with system projects and enhancements, assisting with the design and implementation of data strategies, creating, and maintaining Power BI reports and datasets, uncovering trends, and presenting analysis, translating data into actionable insights for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Beyond routine tasks, the role demands adaptability in a dynamic environment, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement in business processes.

Main Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities of this position include:

Ensure data integrity:

  • Develop and maintain data flows and structures in collaboration with various departments.

  • Analyse data to identify trends and make informed recommendations.

  • Assist with the implementation of an Azure Data Warehouse and configuration of data sources.


  • Power Bi Services:
  • Provide administrative support and training to the Plantforce Power Bi community.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate these into clear requirements for data and reporting analysis.

  • Deliver high quality high impact reporting and dashboards to the business, whilst ensuring reporting requirements are met.

  • Maintain data loads and report refresh cycles to provide continuity to the Power Bi community.


  • System support:
  • Provide front line system support and advice to a wide range of staff.

  • Conduct analysis to identify system opportunities and weaknesses, use experience to recommend and implement best practice solutions.

  • Automate manual administration and reporting processes via system led data solutions.

  • Keep up to date with technical and industry developments.


  • Excel and Power Query:
  • Utilise Excel functions for data manipulation, analysis, and modelling.

  • Design and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making processes.

  • Work with the Data & Systems Manager to develop Power BI reports for visual representation of operational and financial data.


  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with various departments to gather data and insights.

  • Report on technical/analytical findings in a non-technical way to business stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

    Microsoft Office: Proficient working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and in particular Advanced Excel skills.

  • Power BI: Power Bi Services company Administrator. Proficient with all tools within the application. Create datasets from various business systems. Advanced Data transformation and modelling skills required to maintain the existing reporting suite and meet any future reporting requirements.

  • SQL Server: Update maintain and create records within an already created database. Interact with the data through SQL queries to modify, manipulate and extract the data for further analysis. Create database views and custom queries.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis, able to interpret complex information and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams and build positive relationships across the organisation.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in ensuring accuracy in financial models, reports, and analysis.

  • Problem Solving: Proactive in identifying issues, proposing solutions, and making data-driven recommendations.

  • Continuous Improvement: Willingness to identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of business processes.


  • Desirable Skills
  • Microsoft Office: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office data automation tools such as Fabric, Flow, Power Query, Power Pivot and Co-Pilot.

  • Power BI: Complex data modelling scenarios including the creation of custom DAX functions. Maintaining Row Level Security.

  • Database: Able to identify data entities and publish table schema to a database.

  • Microsoft Azure: Basic understanding of Microsoft Azure architecture, VMs, AVDs and Virtual Networks.

  • Experience: Working on a Data Warehouse projects. Implementing and optimising business intelligence tools and workflows., GCSE or equivalent (preferred), Power BI: 3 years (required)
