Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior IT Systems and Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our UK ICTS Support team, based at our Head Office in Brandlesholme, Bury. With an ambitious order book ahead of us we are looking for individuals who can hit the ground running and support the team to ensure all our businesses remain fully operational across the William Hare Group.

Working 36 hours a week / Monday to Friday / Early afternoon finish on a Friday

The Senior IT Systems and Infrastructure Support Engineer will provide senior-level IT infrastructure and systems engineering support. The position involves Service Desk support for escalated issues across all levels (Line 1/2/3), occasional after-hours work, on-call support, and site visits. You will be required to:

  • Provide technical support and engineering for networking infrastructure, contributing to the design, implementation, and security of WAN, LAN, and WLAN.

  • Providing technical support and engineering for servers, services, and applications (virtual and physical) in both on-premise and cloud environments. Contribute to the design, implementation, and security of these systems and services.

  • Advising and assisting in the development and deployment of IT security measures across IT systems.

  • Collaborate with the Principal Group IT Manager, staff, and other IT suppliers to enhance customers' network, systems, and security as needed.

  • Perform root cause analysis of technical issues and implement appropriate solutions for business needs.

  • Delivering IT projects defined and planned in coordination with the Group IT Manager.

  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of companies' disaster and recovery processes.

  • Conducting visits to companies' facilities / locations for installation, maintenance, and resolution of IT equipment outages and issues.

  • Creating and maintaining documentation of IT processes, services and operations.

  • Maintaining accurate records of companies' equipment, software, and installations.

  • Fulfilling other duties as required, consistent with the role and working hours, at the initial place of work or any other company establishments.

    Qualified to degree level or completed an equivalent vocational qualification pathway with a reasonable level of IT systems, infrastructure and engineering support.

  • Can demonstrate expertise in Dell Servers and SANs, Fortinet Firewalls & Switches, Cisco Switches, Backup Solutions, Microsoft Servers and Desktops, Active Directory, Office 365, Citrix, VMware, Mobile Devices, as well as working in facilities with NC machinery.

  • Engaging communicator able to positively influence others and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven experience explaining technical IT issues or solutions with non-technical employees to share feedback, improve processes and resolve problems.

  • Methodical, conscientious approach to work and determination to produce consistent output of the highest quality.

  • Works well using their own initiative, pays attention to detail and is a proactive problem solver.

  • Has a strong work ethic, is self-motivated with an ability to multi-task and to prioritise workload.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in managing the challenges that will be encountered.
