Full Job Description

We are at an exciting point of change, at the Trust, as we welcome students for the first year on placement from Brunel as well as supporting the students on placement from Imperial. There are four junior education fellows and the post holder will manage the fellows and work with the medical education manager and simulation lead to enhance the delivery of education for undergraduate students., Responsible for delivering the undergraduate teaching programme which is set out by Imperial College London and Brunel University.
Responsible for developing post graduate and undergraduate medical educational content across the Trust.
Provide managerial oversight and mentorship to junior clinical teaching fellows. The teaching fellows are responsible for organising and delivering teaching to undergraduates from Imperial College London and Brunel University. The post holder will work with the senior nurse educator for Simulation and ensure the teaching fellows are involved in the delivery of all simulation training as needed.

We have over 3,500 members of staff that are proud to care for nearly half a million people, with a vision to be an outstanding provider of healthcare through leading health and academic partnerships, transforming services, to provide the best care where needed., · Take the lead role in delivery of teaching to undergraduate students, maintaining the high standard of teaching to include liaising with Firm Leads to develop initiatives in clinical teaching.
· Take the lead role in delivery of teaching to postgraduate doctors, maintaining the high standard of teaching to include liaising with College Tutors and the Director of Medical Education to develop initiatives in clinical teaching.
· Develop teaching materials in a variety of formats including e-learning materials.
· Evaluate the teaching programme and implement changes using the experience and expertise in medical education.
· In partnership with the lead nurse for simulation develop and maintain an undergraduate simulation programme.
· Be innovative regarding principles in education and participate in research and publications.
· Develop timetables linked to curriculum needs and student placements
2. Leadership, Culture and Values and People
· Work in partnership with the TCO's to ensure an excellent education experience for students on placement.
· Line manage, supervise and mentor junior clinical fellows
· Provide a robust & comprehensive teaching programme on clinical skills and clinical examinations to all medical students on placements at Hillingdon Hospital.
· Be a role model to medical students in gaining the skills, knowledge and attitude to support high quality clinical practice.
· Participate in the recruitment of teaching fellows
· Provide careers guidance and advice to Junior Doctors interested in Medical Education.
· Guide junior doctors in developing their teaching skills
· Provide induction sessions on teaching methods
· Provide bespoke feedback on their teaching on request
· Guide them to develop teaching activities in clinical and non-clinical settings
· Provide guidance on educational journals, conferences
3. Governance, Quality and Performance
· Develop and maintain the delivery of clinical skills and bedside teaching programmes and support the junior teaching fellows in contributing to this.
· Review the progress of the students and provide constructive feedback to enable them to progress through their studies to the best of their abilities.
· Maintain CPD to support the development of their teaching skills and knowledge of clinical medicine.
· Ensure safe and competent practice in the use of equipment within the Clinical Skills Laboratory.
· Maintain the Clinical Skills Laboratory
· Manage the Clinical Skills Laboratory on a daily basis and prepare in advance of each teaching session.
· Research and look out for new innovation to improve the standards and student experience
· Request/Purchase manikins and routine supply items for the lab
4. Communication and Partnership Working
· Attend meetings concerned with the clinical skills training, simulation and education programme both internal and external.
· Represent the UG team at the regular Medical Education Team meetings
· Represent undergraduate training at the Medical Education Committee.
· Represent Trust at conferences and education forums as appropriate.
· Deputise for the DCS or DUE at meetings when necessary.
· Induct the new teaching fellows and oversee their teaching
· Provide teaching guides/ material
· Teach or demonstrate when necessary
· Conduct briefing sessions to maintain the same standard among teachers.
· Review their teaching and provide feedback
· Introduce them to medical education research and encourage publications and presentation at national and international conferences

The post holder will need to have a lived experience of undergraduate studies in the UK and be able to manage the service and staff to provide the highest quality education. The post is advertised for 12 months but consideration will be given to extend, and the two days can be flexible but will be expected to be on site.
