Full Job Description

The City of York Council are looking to appoint a SEND Casework Manager to lead SEND assessment and review team. We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and dedicated manager who has a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with special needs and disabilities aged 0 - 25.

You will have leadership and management skills to ensure the delivery of high quality, performance and statutory compliance of the team, ensuring children and young people are at the centre of everything we do.

Working in partnership with a range of partners across education, health and care and with families, you will embed co-production as a practice standard, make sure decisions are transparent and consistent, and have a vision that is ambitious for children and young people to live the best lives that they can.

As the manager you will be responsible for the direct management and supervision of the case workers and plan writers, case allocation, decision making, appeals and tribunals. Using skills of influence and negotiation, you will be solution focussed and forward thinking, and collaborate with colleagues in education, health and social care to make sure effective partnerships are in place to support children and families.

This is key position as part of our continuous improvement, and a post that can make a real difference to the experience of children and families, we look forward to hearing from you., Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
