Full Job Description

Bell is recruiting Chemistry, Biology and Maths Tutors to work at The Leys school in Cambridge on our University Preparation Programme course for young learners this summer.

This course is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to embark on their university journey successfully. The 2 week programme combines inspiring taster courses in: Math, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, and Physics, a lecture programme, Academic English and study skills lessons, a social programme and excursions. The course is aimed at overseas students aged 14-17 that may be considering a University Foundation course to prepare them for study at an English-medium University. The students will have a good level of English, but English will be the second language for all students i.e., B2 Level of English Proficiency Common European Framework.

The course runs for a 6-week period from July 3^rd - August 13^th. Each course lasts 2 weeks and will have a different cohort of students, so lessons will be repeated across each course. Each subject teacher will deliver 6 hours of lessons in their subject per course (3 hours per week)., Bell is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment:

  • A DBS/Police Check will be requested in the event of a successful application (this will be paid for by Bell).

  • We do not accept DBS Checks undertaken by other organisations (unless you are on the update service).

  • All gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily.

  • Proof of identity and qualifications will be required.

  • All references will be followed up and reference requests will ask specifically whether there is any reason you should not be engaged in situations where you have responsibility for, or substantial access to, persons under 18.

  • Appropriate suitability checks will be required prior to confirmation of appointment.

    Degree or Masters level qualified in Chemistry, Biology or Maths is essential whilst PGCE or CELTA qualification would be an advantage.
