We're looking for a talented person to join our successful and well established South West and Wales branch on a permanent basis.

As Sales Manager, you'll deliver the breadth of our market leading proposition through our highly respected and trusted team of accessible underwriters, to fulfil our ambitious plans to continue our profitable growth and market penetration.

You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients and brokers or attending industry events.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead a Regional Team of Business Development Managers, driving growth to achieve the Branch target.Management of New Deals Process at a Branch Level.

  • Lead the Sales and Distribution Plan for the branch.

  • Maintain an overview of key accounts, ensuring joint business plans in place to drive long term partnerships.

  • Deliver Branch Financial Targets and Sales Competencies, including quote conversion and service delivery KPI's being met.

  • Implement and execute the planning, forecasting and managing of the Branch's sales budgets.

  • Manage the performance and personal development of Business Development Managers to increase capability.

  • Proactively seek broker feedback directly and from Business Development Managers on performance and delivery to assist in delivering strategic service plans.

    Proven successful track record of profitable business development with advanced sales and negotiation skills.

  • Experience of managing broker relationships, with good understanding of commercial broker market.

  • Ability to develop senior reciprocal relationships with brokers.

  • Experience of analysing data, business and financial planning. Ability to review and interpret data and adjust plans accordingly.

  • Good level of technical expertise across commercial insurance and a high level of decision-making ability.

  • Knowledge of underwriting & risk management. Sound knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for insurance.

  • Highly motivated, capable of working across function and managing a team.

  • Outstanding stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.


  • As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

    This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
