Full Job Description

  • Work safely and assist in meeting the company's quality and analytical standards

  • Test incoming and outgoing product as per product control sheet.

  • Ensure that all Laboratory documentation is completed and correctly filed.

  • Be responsible for the service and calibration of Laboratory equipment.

  • Assist with the commissioning of new instruments

  • Assist with the creation & up-dating of written analytical procedures

  • Maintain accurate test result records for each stage of quality control

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the company's quality system and procedures

  • Monitor test information, including certificate of analysis, and report non conformance to line manager.

  • Ensure customer required specific tests/requirements are performed on outgoing products.

  • Take water samples in accordance with site discharge policy.

  • To ensure and assist with all R&D projects assigned to the Laboratory are completed within the given timescale, including written reports.

  • To be involved in production of pilot blends for new products and report data to relevant departments.

  • To provide technical advice when required.


  • To follow all company safety procedures.

    To maintain at all times a good standard of health and safety.
    To ensure all subordinates follow company safety procedures and observe safety rules.
    To familiarise yourself with the site emergence response plan.
    To recognise and learn if you have to perform any tasks during an emergency / incident.
    To report any accident / incident to the Laboratory Manager.
    To report any defects observed in equipment to the Laboratory Manager.
    To be aware of the hazardous nature of all materials handled on site.
    To look after items of personal protective equipment issued and wear correct PPE at all times.
    To follow all company safety procedures.
    To observe all company safety rules.
    To maintain at all times a good standard of health and safety.
    To ensure all subordinates follow company safety procedures and observe safety rules.

    Higher National Diploma, Higher National Certificate, a Degree or experience within a quality control laboratory.

  • Previous lab experience with testing solvents/oils and basic wet analytical techniques would be preferred
