Full Job Description

The Governors of Coedcae School wish to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Pupil Support Assistant. This is a role that supports the Pupil Support Leader for each year group to ensure that pupils are safe, happy and thriving.

The key objective of the role is to provide support, both personal and academic, that helps pupils within the year group to overcome barriers to their learning and social engagement, enabling them to become more independent learners and achieve their full potential.

We are looking for a strong and positive role model for all pupils, including those who need support with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

Applicants are invited from interested individuals who are able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to young people, have good communication skills, and are able to encourage and motivate pupils;


  • Ability to relate well to, and provide support for parents and carers;


  • Patience, understanding and the ability to establish good relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, particularly pupils and school staff;


  • A good standard of education in Mathematics and English language at GCSE Grade C or above, or the equivalent;


  • Enthusiasm and a high motivation for the post;


  • Awareness of, and compliance with, a commitment to the wider life of the school;


  • Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.


  • We require motivated and enthusiastic people who can work positively and effectively as part of a team and support individuals with complex barriers to learning and behaviour that can present as challenges.
