Full Job Description

As a Publisher in our Journals Editorial team, you will manage and develop society owned journals to a degree of excellence that enhances OUP's standing in the learned society and publishing landscape. You will be the main contact for the medical societies on your list and will advising on and implementing strategies to ensure the successful development of the journals in the changing landscape.

You will have experience working with journals (ideally society journals in the medical science area). You will be an excellent communicator, enjoying managing relationships with editors and society contacts. You will have strong organization skills and be a good team player as you will be working with a variety of functional groups within OUP.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Journals publishing experience, ideally with medical and/or society owned journals

  • Good understanding of journals publishing, including editorial processes, production processes, marketing, industry trends, systems, competitors, and technology

  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate with both internal and external parties

  • Analytical and forecasting ability to review trends and align journal development appropriately

  • Strong business skills to enable tracking of profitability and initiate remedial actions where necessary

  • An entrepreneurial mindset, particularly in relation to digital developments
