It's an exciting time to join our Business Resilience Management (BRM) team here at AXA UK. As part of AXA UK's ongoing strategic growth into the Mid Corporate market, AXA Commercial is looking to develop its customer and broker proposition even further to sit alongside the Mid Corporate Underwriting function. To help us do so, we are looking for two Mid Corporate Business Resilience Managers. This role will complement the national BRM team, but bring a variance of the role, including a wider remit for area and focus on Mid Corporate customers with emphasis on closer longer-term engagement and support. You'll work closely with Mid Corporate AXA underwriters and brokers to influence the delivery of a profitable underwriting result. You'll generate positive customer engagement with multi location mid corporate customers through traditional risk engineering survey programmes, whilst also adopting a partnership approach with customer and broker to develop and maintain a high quality and
sustainable relationship.

What you'll be doing:

  • Be part of the underwriting team involved in identifying pipeline, securing and renewing high quality mid corporate acquisitions.

  • Undertake risk survey programmes of commercial Property, Motor fleet or Liability risks as agreed and provide appropriate technical reports, including risk quality, rating, classification and loss assessment.

  • Support customers with risk management guidance of and thought leadership in protecting their business.

  • Deliver appropriate data that is required to influence reinsurance pricing and terms and that required for commercial pricing and risk acceptability.

  • Identify and provide detail of risks to underwriters that are outside of underwriting acceptability and could have a detrimental effect on AXA Commercial's profitability.

  • Comment on other risk related topics (e.g. acceptability, adequacy of sums insured etc.) where this will be of assistance to underwriters.

  • Identify, negotiate and agree risk mitigation strategies with policyholders necessary for risk acceptability.

  • Use your skills and knowledge to knowledge transfer to our teams and engage with customers in conjunction with our distribution, underwriting and claims teams.

  • Support customers and brokers with additional guidance and training on risk management areas, including updates to products, materials, processes, supply chain, safety management and solutions.

  • Represent AXA at risk based committees, forums and groups for technical discussion - HSE, RISC Authority and Association of British Insurers.

    ACII or equivalent professional qualification desirable. NEBOSH National General Certificate.

  • CMIOSH or equivalent degree. CFPA Diploma for Fire Safety Management.

  • Thorough knowledge of risk identification, assessment and improvement techniques and standards. Also, relevant general and specific trade hazards by occupancy type.

  • Knowledge of appropriate RISC Authority Rules and Recommendations, National and International Standards and Codes of Practice, Health & Safety principles, through regulation, risk assessment and employee training obligations.

  • Knowledge of Buildings Regulations (Approved Documents A, B, L, P and S) &/or Scotland Technical Building Standards.

  • Customer oriented with strong stakeholder skills.

  • Experience of Property, Motor Fleet and Liability risk surveying coupled with a good understanding of associated underwriting practice.

  • Evaluation of risk and specifying fire, security, escape of water, flood and business interruption risk protections for underwriting purposes.

  • Evaluation of risk and specifying risk protections for Employers', Public and Products liability.

  • Experience of dealing with mid to large customers or more technical challenging risks (Risks where premiums for individual policyholders are >£100,000.


  • As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
