Full Job Description

Our client is a large consultancy working within Defence, and they are looking for a confident leader to manage commercial teams and deliver training to commercial and non-commercial staff.

Commercial Management includes drafting and checking agreements, supporting bid and sales activities and negotiating contract paperwork.

This role will be 50% people management, 50% commercial and contract tasks, so would suit someone who has experience within both areas.

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week on site.,

  • Leading and supporting a Commercial team of up to 10 Commercial Managers/Commercial Officers.

  • Developing and coaching junior team members and supporting their career growth.

  • Training non-commercial staff on commercial and procurement processes.

  • Reviewing and approving call-off contracts under a wide variety of framework types.

  • Drafting and agreement of sales and procurement agreements.

  • Analysis and negotiation of contract terms and conditions.

  • Analysis and agreement of NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements, JVs.

  • Reviewing and approving proposals, prime and sub- contracts.

  • Commercial risk identification, mitigation, and management.

  • Providing commercial support throughout contract delivery.

  • Input to approvals processes, attendance and input at bid and governance meetings.

  • Development of commercial processes and procedures.

    Experience leading/managing Commercial teams.

  • A passion for leadership and a desire to want to grow junior team members.

  • Ideally a legal understanding and have worked in a very contractual paperwork heavy role, but they are willing to upskill on these skills in favour of the leadership.

  • Ability to analyse, interpret and draft contractual wording with a strong attention to detail.

  • Experience of negotiating complex contract terms with suppliers and/or clients.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure.

  • Experience within a Defence/Government company is desirable.

    £55,000 - £70,000 a year - Permanent, Life assurance, income protection insurance and critical illness cover.
