Full Job Description

As an IT Infrastructure Technician you will ensure the IT environment for the Assent Group of Companies and the wider Associate family is fit for purpose and continually aligns with the growth of the Group. Keeping up to date with new innovative initiatives that will facilitate the projected growth and responsible for all IT Partners and their deliverables.

The position will co-ordinate a robust, resilient, and reliable Technology Infrastructure, reporting to the IT Manager, supported by the Group IT Director, and working with stakeholders, team managers and Heads of Department.,

  • Liaising with suppliers to provide high-quality services to the company including Managed Service Provide

  • Providing an IT support service to internal and external customers on line of business solutions and bespoke applications, where the IT Partners support services are unable to assist.

  • Understanding the business and bridging the gap between the business and the IT services including all aspects of IT and Telecoms.

  • Contributing to the definition of IT policies and procedures, defining and implementing IT standards, and monitoring compliance.

  • Ensuring the IT environment is available 24/7 365 days a year, for all software applications, websites, hardware infrastructure and telecoms, ensuring stability and security and working with partners to achieve rigorous SLAs.

  • Ensuring the integrity of all data and system backup processes throughout the company and conducting regular internal audits of backup processes to validate these are being managed to the highest standards with internal systems and those hosted externally.

  • Implementing and managing robust operational and change management procedures.

  • Ensuring that internal procedures are in place to maintain the PCI-DSS compliance of the company and ensure that security is at the forefront of all decision making. I

  • Identifying and addressing key IT risks that may compromise the integrity of service provision.

  • Implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.

  • Assist in the compilation and maintenance of an accurate inventory of hardware and software.

  • Provide suggestions to senior management on the use of technology to automate and improve business process flow and achieve productivity gain.

  • Control and record costs against the IT and telecoms CAPEX and OPEX budgets.

    Ability to maintain focus when operating under a high degree of pressure, such as managing the resolution of a P1 incident and meeting tight deadlines.

  • The ability to multitask and manage relationships with internal and associate stakeholders, and external partners.

  • Experience of implementing change control.

  • Experience of identifying IT risks.

  • Disciplined approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of an organisation

  • Broad technical experience covering Windows infrastructure, firewalls, switches, physical/virtual servers, VoIP telephony and hosted bespoke applications with the ability to hold service providers accountable.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and issues to upper management with ease and confidence, and to translate business goals into technical strategies. U

  • Understanding of PCI-DSS, Data Protection legislation, quality and regulatory frameworks.

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience.


  • Desirable Skills :
  • Experience of working with outsourced support services

  • Experience in a regulated environment - e.g. CICAIR, BSA, or similar in another industry.

  • Experience supporting and/or administering multi-site Enterprise IT
