Full Job Description

The role of the General Maintenance Operative at Doncaster Deaf Trust covers a wide range of tasks including legislative checks, reactive maintenance ticket requests and weekly planned preventative maintenance (PPM) duties.
The General Maintenance Operative will work with and support the property maintenance team under the direction of the Facilities and Maintenance Manager. The operative will carry out tasks throughout the Doncaster Deaf Trust (DDT), working with a range of staff, clients, children and young people. It is critical that the operative is always flexible, professional, and diplomatic.
The Facilities and Maintenance Manager is responsible for allocating work schedules and day-to-day tasks, although the operative must be proactive and able to work unsupervised.
The General Maintenance Operatives' general location of work is normally within the confines of the DDT, on occasions there may some off-site requirements in line with collections aligned to our charitable and fundraising function. The General Maintenance Operative will also be required to join a call-out rota system. This duty will be for a duration of seven days on a rolling monthly rota and cover times outside of working hours.   • Extensive experience of facilities and site maintenance and/or any other related role.

  • An understanding of Health & Safety Regulations, including knowledge and experience of COSHH.

  • Experience of operating with a level of autonomy and being able to work as part of a team.

  • Experience of working in a high-quality customer focused environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills both written and verbal.
