Full Job Description

  • Monitor, maintain, and optimise database performance to ensure server availability, including troubleshooting performance and connection issues.

  • Creating and maintaining a high availability and disaster-recovery-friendly architecture ensuring proper functionality.

  • Create and monitor database alerts, promptly responding to and resolving alerts as needed.

  • Build and configure database environments based on operational and business requirements, adhering to standards and best practices.

  • Database tuning, managing, optimising, testing and verifying the backup and restoration processes

  • Creating and maintaining monitoring and metrics tooling and dashboards, to deliver both high-level and granular insight into database performance and operation

  • Handling support tickets when necessary

  • Develops and deploy new database objects and changes to existing database objects including tables, stored procedures, views, etc.

  • Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development

  • Design, develop and maintain a series of complex relational database reports using SSRS

    6+ years of experience into database administration, Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Strong understanding of database architecture and design principles.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills

  • Eye on detail and a curiosity for new technologies and techniques, and actively keeping yourself up to date

  • Ability to understand, diagnose and investigate legacy database designs

  • Able to adapt in a fast-paced environment and workload prioritisation

  • Good stakeholder management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


  • Qualifications and Experience:

    Desirable:
  • University degree in a numerate subject (e.g. Computer Science or engineering).

  • 6+ years of experience as a database administrator

  • Excellent knowledge of database design, data governance, information security, backup, and recovery best practices

  • Extensive knowledge of T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS and SSRS

  • Experience in an environment using SQL, Stored Procedures and Entity Framework to access data

  • Experience working closely with a software development team with understanding of the software development lifecycle

  • Comfortable monitoring and supporting many critical production databases

  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases, e.g. MongoDB

  • Experience with other relational database types, e.g. Postgres, MySQL

  • Working as part of an Agile team
