Full Job Description

  • To undertake whole class supervision in the absence of the class teacher, setting work previously prepared by the teacher.

  • Managing the behaviour of students to ensure a constructive environment whilst undertaking their learning.

  • Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies in accordance with the school's policies and procedures.

  • Collect any completed work and resources after the lesson and return them to the teacher.

  • If cover work is not required, you'll be required to support other students, as a Teaching Assistant.

    Working as a Cover Supervisor is an excellent opportunity for you if you are thinking of becoming a teacher, if you are newly qualified or if you are considering working with children and want some classroom experience. The role offers invaluable experience in the classroom and gives you an advantage over other candidates if you are looking to apply for teaching roles in the future.


  • We are looking for candidates who can ideally work over 5 days, however we can be flexible for the right person.

    The ideal candidate will be confident in supporting the positive progression of students learning and development at secondary level, with strong behaviour management skills and a passion for education. You must be flexible, enthusiastic, and friendly in your approach, whilst working collaboratively as part of a high-quality staff team to implement the planned curriculum.,
  • You should have 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English) or equivalent

  • highly advanced interpersonal skills in order to manage a range of situations

  • Prior experience or teaching qualifications are not required for this role, but previous work with young people in an educational setting is a definite advantage., We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
