Full Job Description

£43,421 - £47,420 per year. We are seeking a qualified and experienced archivist to lead and direct our Accredited Archive Service on behalf of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Councils. You will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the Archive Service, including staff, collections, conservation, access and digital preservation.

West Glamorgan Archive Service holds over 2 miles of archive collections recording nine centuries of our local and national history. Amongst its many treasures, it holds the only collection in a Welsh local authority archive which is inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World register.

The successful candidate will drive new initiatives for widening engagement and improving sustainability as the archives move to a new city centre hub site in Swansea in co-location with the Central Library and other services. You will develop and sustain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and partners, with regional and national professional networks and with our regulatory agencies in Welsh and UK Government. The role involves managing budgets and operational responsibility for a small and specialised staff team.

Applications are encouraged from experienced qualified individuals of diverse backgrounds, with a commitment to promoting heritage and learning, equality and inclusivity.
