Cost Engineer

Cost Engineers support our organisations in the delivery of accurate and timely finance and commercial information relating to performance against baselines. The cost engineer would drive the cost performance reporting our NRS account including all Earned Value Management metrics associated with key commitments and expenditures.

Main Duties

Development of cost control data structures to accurately track and control actual costs

Application for payment

Establishing and setting the control budget aligned with agreed Target Prices

The tracking of actual costs both for internal and external expenditure against the cost controls structures

The tracking and control of accruals and commitments against set budget constraints

The build of forecasts to include for estimated work to complete (ETC) and the development of the estimate at complete (EAC)

The accurate and timely reporting of all cost information including Earned Value Management

The management of contingency and exposure associated with risk events and remaining risks of works

The management of change control to ensure alignment with agreed Target Prices and control data structures

The tracking of key trends which can inform future change controls

• Previous experience in an Estimator role.


• Previous experience in a Facilities Management or regulated environment.


• Previous experience of NEC forms of contract


• Able to present data


• Excellent problem-solving skills


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Good IT literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office


• Relevant professional qualification, or qualified by experience
