Full Job Description

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this position provides day-to-day administrative support to the Commercial team. The focus of this role is to assist with the with purchasing of hard goods sold as well doing the cash recon for the trade counter. At times you may be also involved with assisting Sales Representatives to open new customer accounts, manage their pipeline, follow up on new business leads and ensure new customer expectations are met in full. The role covers all of the UK Dual brand businesses (Gas Direct, Gas Direct Cymru and SIG),

This role will be required to interact with suppliers and customers, by phone and e-mail, and to liaise with numerous other departments such as Operations, Credit Control, Customer Services and Marketing therefore effective communication skills are essential. A high-level of organisation, accuracy and attention to detail are also critical.

Main role Responsibilities

· Requesting quotations from suppliers with a focus on ensuring we are buying the best possible prices by conducting weekly price checks with approved suppliers.

· Requesting purchase orders through SAP

· Booking in orders in SAP

· Scheduling deliveries in SAP

· Conducting daily cash recon for the trade counter

Secondary Role Responsibilities you may be involved in

· Opening new customer accounts using tools such as Account Approval Centre (AAC), including:

· Liaising with new customers and Sales Representatives to ensure accurate and comprehensive information is available in order to open the account.

· Ensuring data is entered into AAC completely and accurately.

· Notifying the relevant teams once the account has been opened in order to arrange the first delivery.

· liaising with new customers to keep them informed, ensuring customer satisfaction, and resolving any issues identified.

· Assisting the Sales team to keep the Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) tool up to date with their pipeline customers.

· Following up on new business leads and arranging appointments for Sales Representatives as required.

· Providing administrative support to the Commercial team as required to ensure customer expectations are met.

· To operate safely within the work environment using Behaviour Based Safety Principles (BSP) to maintain safety standards and look for improvements.

· To carry out any other duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

· A strong telephone manner

· Good communication skills

Essential Experience / Skills:

  • Computer literate

  • Ability to complete set admin tasks

  • Reliable / Flexible to change

  • Able to organize and prioritize workload in a busy office

  • Provide full admin support to your team members


  • Preferred Experience / Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Previous SAP experience

  • Good knowledge of general administration work

  • Ideally 1 year + experience in a similar role but flexibility exists for enthusiastic intelligent candidates who can demonstrate an ability to learn quickly and adapt., Customer service: 1 year (required)

  • Administration: 1 year (required)

  • SAP: 1 year (preferred)
