Full Job Description

Are you someone with some background or skills in conservation, looking for a first role, supporting people and communities to conserve, restore and protect nature?, Groundwork Wales is offering a rare opportunity for a paid six month work placement as Assistant Project Officer. In this role, you'll work across South Wales, engaging with communities to create, improve, and sustain green and blue spaces. From our Healthy Rivers and Nature Restoration programmes to outdoor play initiatives, you'll be supporting our skilled team and learning from them, while leading and supporting community members., Working with local communities and businesses to build capacity and resilience is vital if we are to tackle hardship, achieve a just transition to net zero and help nature recover in a way that reduces inequality and leads to better work and healthier, happier lives.
We:

  • Help People Improve their prospects

  • Help people create better places

  • Help people protect the planet, Support the development and delivery of community-based programmes.

  • Record progress towards targets and assist with report preparation for funding bodies

  • Maintain effective relationships with partner organisations

  • Identify and recruit groups, individuals, and partners to participate in programme activities

  • Supervise participants to develop environmental conservation and interpersonal skills

  • Deliver accredited courses and provide 1:1 mentoring sessions

  • Assist with identifying and applying for additional funding opportunities

    A full current driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes

  • Familiarity with community work practices and related legislation

  • Commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults

  • Adherence to GDPR regulations regarding personal information

  • Commitment to ensuring the health and safety of all involved in Groundwork Wales' work


  • The successful candidate will receive support through a program of peer support, mentoring, and training.

    Salary: £22,010 per annum

    Contract Tenure: Six months (initially)
