Full Job Description

Reporting to a Media Scheduler, the Assistant Media Scheduler is responsible for scheduling all BBC promotional items on a given service in line with the marketing, editorial and scheduling timescales. Responsible for applying the principles of media planning, marketing and advertising, and using all available audience data to create the most audience focused promotions schedule. Responsible for ensuring schedules are editorially sound, meets all the requirements of transmission and are fit for broadcast.,

  • Responsible for the scheduling and optimising of BBC promotional media content across all platforms.

  • Responsible for achieving campaign and cross-promotion targets.

  • Responsible for monitoring and tracking channel playout, informing Media Schedulers, Media Portfolio Leads and Campaign Planners of performance/issues.

  • Supports in identifying cross promotion opportunities to navigate viewers/listeners to other BBC services/events.

  • Supports Media Schedulers to ensure a consistent approach with the promotional content of junctions.

  • Supports Media Schedulers to ensure that schedule works to time and meets all the requirements of transmission.

  • Ensures the junctions are editorially sound.

  • Supports the handover of all aspects of the junction schedule to Playout teams.

  • Extract, interpret and apply media research to provide audience focus to the whole scheduling process.

  • Provides research data and analysis to support Media Planning to predict future audience levels, enabling optimal use of promotional airtime.

    A passion in and knowledge of television/radio/digital output

  • An understanding of media research and marketing within a broadcast environment.

  • Numerate with excellent attention to detail,

  • Good time management and able to work to deadlines.

  • An appreciation of scheduling and creative media solutions.

  • PC literate with experience of spreadsheet analysis and creation.

  • Understanding of the editorial and transmission requirements of a broadcast or media schedule.

  • An informed interest in developments in audience research techniques and systems.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Knowledge of Ofcom guidelines.

    Salary: £24,000 - £27,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
